
South Ripley opened the boys basketball season by beating Jac-Cen-Del 75-43 in the Turkey Shootout heard last night on the Sports Voice. The Raiders Drew Volz led all scorers with 36 points. Darian Grieshop was the top scorer for the host Eagles with 18. Teammate Lane Simon added 10.
Elsewhere around the area, it was Greensburg 61 North Decatur 45; Oldenburg Academy bested Switzerland County 60-45; Hagerstown got past Franklin County 46-41, and South Dearborn took care of Rising Sun 68-43.
In girls hoops action, Oldenburg turned back Union County 47-38; Lawrenceburg dispatched Franklin County 37-26, and Columbus East bested South Decatur 60-29.
Coming up tonight, a huge matchup of local powers when Class 4A #9 East Central visits Class 3A #4 Greensburg. The Trojans come into the game 5-0 while the Pirates are 2-1.

Joe Burrow will start at quarterback for the Cincinnati Bengals when they play the Ravens in Baltimore tomorrow night. Burrow has been out since September when suffered a turf toe injury that required surgery.
Former Bengals offensive lineman Willie Anderson and former Colts Robert Mathis, Reggie Wayne and Adam Vinitieri are among 26 Modern Era semifinalists for induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2026. The Hall will announce 15 modern era finalists later this year to be considered for induction. Those 15 finalists will be considered by the Hall’s selection committee prior to Super Bowl LX.
The #25 Indiana Hoosiers men’s basketball team is still undefeated following an 86-69 win over Kansas State at Assembly Hall Tuesday night. The Hoosiers led 39-27 at halftime and were up by double digits throughout the second half. Reed Bailey dropped 21 points in the victory, while Tayton Conerway chipped in 19. The Hoosiers are 6-0 and host Bethune-Cookman on Saturday.
The Notre Dame basketball team got back in the win column with a 68-63 win over Rutgers on Tuesday in Las Vegas. Irish guard Markus Burton led the way in scoring with 21 points. Notre Dame improves to 5-2 and will be back in action in Sin City Wednesday afternoon to face #3 Houston.
Indiana and Notre Dame are on the brink of College Football Playoff berths. The Hoosiers and the Irish are ranked at #2 and #9, respectively, in the latest CFP rankings. Indiana wraps up the regular season with the 100th Old Oaken Bucket game at Purdue Friday night. The Hoosiers could secure a spot in the Big Ten Championship Game with a win. Notre Dame goes up against Stanford on the West Coast late Saturday night. The College Football Playoff Selection Committee will release rankings again next Monday night, with the playoff bracket to be unveiled on December 7.
