North Decatur boys golf finished second in a three-way meet with Hauser and Edinburg. It was the Jets in first with 169, followed by the Chargers with 177 and the Lancers with 243. Cooper Parmer led the way for the Chargers with a career best round of even par 36.

At the EIAC track and field meet, Batesville took first place in the boys meet with 162.5 points, followed by the host Trojans at 145, Lawrenceburg was third with 69 points, Greensburg finished with 62, Franklin County was fifth with 56 points, followed by Connersville (6th – 45), Rushville (7th – 43.5) and South Dearborn (8th – 39). Batesville’s Jake Chapman took men’s meet MVP honors. East Central won the girls meet with 166.5, followed by second place Batesville with 161.5. Lawrenceburg finished 3rd at 81 points, followed by Franklin County (4th – 67), Rushville (5th – 43), South Dearborn (6th – 42), Connersville (7th – 33) and Greensburg (8th – 26).

The Indiana Pacers advanced to the Eastern Conference finals after closing out the host Cleveland Cavaliers 114-105 in a game heard last night on the Sports Voice. The Pacers win the best of seven series four games to one and await the winner of the other Eastern Conference semifinal series between the New York Knicks and the Boston Celtics.

Major League Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred yesterday removed Pete Rose, Shoeless Joe Jackson and 15 other deceased players from the permanently ineligible list. The decision opens the door for Rose and Jackson, long banned for gambling, to be considered for the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown. Manfred said MLB penalties no longer apply after someone’s death, which signals a shift in how Baseball handles its most controversial figures. Rose, Jackson and the others are now eligible for consideration by the Hall’s Classic Baseball Era Committee when it meets next in December 2027. Rose – baseball’s hit king – was banned in 1989 for betting on games while managing the Reds. Manfred’s move comes eight months after Rose passed away

The Chicago White Sox topped the Reds 5-1 in 10 innings last night in downtown Cincinnati. The conclusion of that game was heard on WRBI. Game two of the series is tonight, when the Reds will celebrate the life of Pete Rose. Coverage on 103.9 FM begins at 6:30, which will include the on field ceremony honoring Rose.
