Batesville won the IHSAA boys golf sectional championship for the first time since the ’95-’96 season and ended Columbus North’s seven-year streak of sectional titles on Friday at Greensburg Country Club. The Bulldogs advanced to the regional for the first time since the 2011-2012 season by shooting a team score of 301 and narrowly edged Columbus North, which finished at 302. East Central was fourth (321); Greensburg came in sixth (335); North Decatur was right behind at seventh (339); Jac-Cen-Del was eighth (363), and Milan came in 10th (378). Individual regional qualifiers were Greensburg’s Colten Schroder (74) and Austin Makrancy from East Central (76).

As heard last night on WRBI, the Reds-Arizona Diamondbacks game was suspended at 3-3 after six innings because of rain in downtown Cincinnati. Before last night’s series opener , Reds first baseman Christian Encarnacion-Strand was activated from the injured list. To make room for him on the 26-man roster, third string catcher Austin Wynns was designated for assignment.
