The Jasper Wildcats run ruled the Greensburg Pirates 15-5 in the IHSAA Class 3A baseball semi-state semifinal Saturday afternoon as heard on WRBI. Greensburg led 2-0 going into the bottom of the 2nd inning until Jasper scored three times in the frame. The Wildcats added 12 runs in the 3rd through 6th innings to put the game away. Coach Alex Meyer’s Pirates end the season at 18-8.

The Reds rallied to beat the Detroit Tigers 8-4 yesterday in Motown in a game heard on the Sports Voice. Cincinnati scored six runs over the final two innings. Elly De La Cruz smacked his 16th home run of the season in the 9th that put Cincinnati up by four runs and capped off the comeback. De La Cruz has now homered in four straight games. Graham Ashcraft got the win in relief. The Reds won two out of three games in the series, and finish the road trip at 4-2. They’ve also won seven of their last nine. The Reds are off today before returning home tomorrow night to open a three-game series against the Minnesota Twins.

The Indiana Pacers go up against the Thunder in Oklahoma City tonight in Game Five of the NBA Finals. The best of seven series is knotted at two games apiece. WRBI coverage begins at 8 p.m.

ESPN is reporting the Cincinnati Bengals and All-Pro defensive end Trey Hendrickson have resumed contract talks. Hendrickson, who led the NFL in sacks with 17 1/2 last season, wants a long-term contract extension. He did not participate in any of the team’s offseason workouts, including last week’s mandatory minicamp.

Kyle Kirkwood won the IndyCar race near St. Louis last night. Kirkwood has won back-to-back races on the circuit. It’s his third overall checkered flag this year.
