The Washington Nationals held off the Reds 10-8 in our Nation’s Capital in the series lid lifter heard last night on WRBI. The Nationals jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning and never looked back. The Reds scored five in the 4th inning to pull to within three runs and added two more in the 9th before the late comeback fell short. Brady Singer was tagged with the loss and falls to 7-8 on the year. The Reds will try to even the series tonight. Chase Burns gets the start for the Reds. He’ll be opposed by righthander Brad Lord. The Reds and Atlanta Braves will wear NASCAR-themed uniforms, caps and batting helmets in the Speedway Classic in Bristol, Tennessee on August 2. The inaugural Speedway Classic will be the first major league game to be played in Tennessee.
The Indiana Fever return from the All-Star break tonight when they take on the New York Liberty in Brooklyn. Indiana will once again be without the services of guard Caitlin Clark. She’s dealing with a groin injury that kept her out of the All-Star activities in Indianapolis over the weekend.
