
The Bulldogs finished 31st overall in a large statewide field after two days of competition against many of Indiana’s top programs. Adam Brewer and Carson Weiler led Batesville with podium finishes, as Brewer went 5–1 to place second and Weiler finished 5–2 to earn fifth place.
Greensburg also had a podium finisher at the event, with Carson Beagle placing fifth after a 6–2 weekend. Beagle now stands at 15–4 on the season.
Several WRBI-area programs were represented at the Spartan Classic, including Batesville, Greensburg, East Central and South Dearborn. Batesville returns to action Saturday at a multi-team event hosted by Switzerland County.
Earlier this week, WRBI reported on the Cheatham Classic Girls Basketball Tournament in Richmond. Today, congratulations go out to Kaylin Kathman and Molly Gesell, who were named to the all-tournament team at that event.
The Lady Bulldogs return to action tomorrow night at home as they resume regular-season play following the holiday break.
The Pacers closed out 2025 with another narrow loss, falling 112–110 to the Orlando Magic at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
Paolo Banchero scored the game-winner with 7.5 seconds remaining, handing Indiana its 10th straight defeat. Pascal Siakam led the Pacers with 26 points, while Bennedict Mathurin added 23. Indiana is now 6–28 and returns to action tomorrow night at home against the San Antonio Spurs.
Today marks game day for the Indiana football Hoosiers as they continue their College Football Playoff run.
It is a homecoming of sorts for IU quarterback Fernando Mendoza, who has said he grew up with the Rose Bowl in his backyard, adding a personal angle to the matchup.
Indiana faces Alabama at 4, with a trip to the next round of the College Football Playoff on the line.
Other major bowl games today include Oregon facing Texas Tech in the Orange Bowl and Georgia squaring off with Ole Miss in the Sugar Bowl.
In college basketball tonight, the Indiana State Sycamores will be at Northern Iowa in Valley play. Tomorrow, Notre Dame will head to Cal in ACC action. Ball State is at Buffalo on Saturday. The same day as a meeting between Butler and Villanova, as well as Purdue and Wisconsin.
