Tuesday’s snow forced the postponement of first round girls basketball sectional games involving local teams. The start of the Class 3A sectional at Franklin County and the 1A sectional at Jac-Cen-Del were both postponed to tonight, and this evening’s scheduled contests were pushed to tomorrow. We’ll tip off our doubleheader tonight when North Decatur faces South Decatur in 1A action at Waldron. Coverage begins at 5:45 on 103.9 FM and the WRBI App. That contest will be followed by Batesville vs. South Dearborn in Class 3A action at Franklin County…

Coming up tonight in other girls first round games, South Ripley goes up against Brownstown Central in the Class 2A sectional at Austin…And at the 1A sectional at Jac-Cen-Del, Milan plays Rising Sun followed by the host Eagles against Shawe Memorial.

In 4A girls sectional action last night at Columbus East, East Central walloped the host Olympians 53-16. The Trojans advance to Friday’s semifinal against Franklin Community.

In boys basketball last night, it was Franklin County 62 Talawanda 48, and Hauser over South Decatur 69-40.

The Utah Jazz defeated the Indiana Pacers 131-122 in NBA action heard last night on the Sports Voice. Jarace Walker and Quenton Jackson scored 24 points each to lead the Pacers, who were resting several starters and front-line players for the second of a “back-to-back.” Indiana closes the homestand at 2-2. The Pacers embark on a four-game road trip leading up to the All-Star break Friday night in Milwaukee.

The Cincinnati Reds made it official Tuesday and announced the signing of Eugenio Suarez to a one-year contract with a mutual option for 2027. This will be Suarez’s second stint with the Reds. He played in Cincinnati from 2015-21. In a corresponding move, the Reds designated catcher Ben Rortvedt for assignment. Cincinnati’s 40-man roster is at capacity.
