The IHSAA girls state basketball tournament is scheduled to tip off tonight and, weather permitting, we have a Class 3A Sectional 29 first round doubleheader tonight on the Sports Voice. The lid lifter at Franklin County features the host Wildcats against Lawrenceburg, followed by Batesville vs. South Dearborn. Coverage is set to begin at 5:45 on 103.9 FM and the WRBI App.

In other first round games involving area teams, South Ripley plays Brownstown Central in 2A action at Austin; East Central goes up against host Columbus East in Class 4A; and in 1A at Jac-Cen-Del, it’s Milan against Rising Sun, and the host Eagles facing Shawe Memorial.

A pair of local boys basketball games are on tonight’s schedule – again, weather permitting: Franklin County goes across the state line to Talawanda, and South Decatur is at Hauser.

The Houston Rockets slid past the Indiana Pacers 118-114 in NBA action heard last night on the Sports Voice. All-Star Paskal Siakam led the Pacers with 27 points and Bennedict Mathurin chipped in 25 off the bench. The homestand continues tonight when the Pacers take on the Utah Jazz. WRBI coverage begins following girls basketball sectional action…Meanwhile, Siakam received his fourth NBA All-Star selection after he was chosen by league coaches as one of seven reserves for the Eastern Conference team. The 2026 NBA All-Star Game will be played on February 15 in Los Angeles.

In college basketball, the Indiana Hoosiers are on to the second game of their West Coast road trip tonight and look to make it three wins in a row when they face the USC Trojans. The Hoosiers are coming off an overtime thriller against UCLA in which they were victorious. Head coach Darian DeVries says they have to remain dialed in mentally to keep the success rolling. Tipoff this evening is a late one at 10 p.m…

The Butler Bulldogs are hoping to avoid a third straight loss this evening when they visit the Providence Friars. The last time these two teams met, it went to overtime inside Hinkle Fieldhouse with Butler coming out on top 113-110. The Bulldogs were beaten by Georgetown at home this past weekend. Tipoff this evening is at 7:00.

Some of the best players in the NFL will be on the field for tonight’s Pro Bowl Games in San Francisco. The AFC and NFC are set to square off in a flag football showdown. The Cincinnati Bengals are represented by quarterbacks Joe Burrow and Joe Flacco, plus wide receivers Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins. Running back Jonathan Taylor and tight end Tyler Warren are representing the Indianapolis Colts.
