Oldenburg Academy knocked off South Decatur 63-52 in boys basketball last night on the Sports Voice. The Twisters Henry Wanstrath led all scorers with 24 points while teammate Adam Weber added 12. The Cougars were led by Lucas Ballard’s 19 points and 12 from Drake Scaggs. OA improves to 11-7 while South Decatur falls to 5-15.
In other action, Ryle of Kentucky defeated East Central 64-48, and Seymour turned back Greensburg 55-42.
In college basketball, #14 Michigan State topped 13th ranked Purdue 75-66 in East Lansing. The Boilermakers have lost three in a row and fall to 19-8 overall and 11-5 in the Big Ten. Purdue is now fourth in the conference standings. They’ll be back in action Sunday at in-state rival Indiana.
The Bengals have signed punter Ryan Rehkow to a two-year contract extension through the 2026 season. Rehkow was signed as a free agent during the 2024 offseason and will be a second-year player in ’25. He played in all 17 games as a rookie and punted 53 times for 2,603 yards. Rehkow’s gross punting average 49.1 yards and net average of 42.9 each set a Bengals single-season record and led all rookies in 2024.
