Former South Decatur head football Rick Zimmerman has been hired to lead the Rushville football program. He succeeds Isaac Sliger, who was hired in December as head coach at EIAC rival Greensburg. Zimmerman coached the Cougars from 2019 to 2021.

The Reds will honor the memory of Pete Rose and sport a #14 sleeve patch on their jerseys this year. Rose, who is baseball’s all-time hits leader, passed away in September at the age of 83.

In college basketball, seventh-ranked Purdue is at #20 Michigan tonight. Tipoff in Ann Arbor is at 7:00…Indiana travels to #11 Michigan State. That one will tipoff at 9.

Auburn remains at #1 in this week’s AP Top 25 College Basketball poll. Alabama is second, followed by Florida, Duke and Tennessee to round out the top five. Two-time defending champion UConn has dropped out of the poll after being ranked for 53 weeks.

The Pacers return home from their trip out west tonight to face the New York Knicks. Tipoff in downtown Indianapolis is at 7:30 p.m.
