
Jennings County mercy-ruled Batesville 13-1 in softball action on Saturday in North Vernon. The Bulldogs’ lone run was scored by Jadah Zins in the top of the 3rd inning. Grace Copley and Caitlin Fox had one hit a piece for Batesville.
The Batesville boys golf team teed off its season by taking first place at the Edinburgh Invitational on Saturday. The Bulldogs as a team carded a 309 and won the match, thanks to a fifth-place individual tie-breaker over second place Roncalli. Jon Moody shot a 74 to lead the Batesville linksters. North Decatur finished ninth (369); Greensburg was right behind in 10th place (375), and Milan was 17th (445).

The Cincinnati Reds nipped the Texas Rangers 2-1 to sweep the three game series in Arlington in a game heard yesterday afternoon on WRBI. Elly De La Cruz singled home the game winning run in the 8th inning. Reds starter Chase Burns did not figure into the decision but was brilliant on the mound. He gave up one run on five hits with one walk and nine strikeouts over six innings. Sam Moll got the win in relief, and former Ranger Brock Burke notched his first Major League save. The Reds open a four-game series tonight in Miami against the Marlins. Lefthander Brandon Williamson gets the start for Cincinnati. Airtime is 6:40 on 103.9 FM.
The Cleveland Cavaliers topped the Indiana Pacers 117-108 in NBA action heard last night on the Sports Voice. Micah Potter recorded a double double for Indiana. He scored 21 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. The Pacers are back home tomorrow night against Minnesota.
In college basketball, Auburn is the NIT champion after downing Tulsa 92-86 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis last night.
The NCAA men’s basketball championship will be determined tonight, when Michigan faces UConn. Tipoff at Lucas Oil Stadium in downtown Indy is just before 9 p.m.
