Union County bested North Decatur 17-4 in varsity softball yesterday. The Patriots scored seven runs on seven hits in the bottom of the 2nd inning and never looked back. The Chargers are scheduled to visit Morristown this evening, weather permitting.
Milan Aquatics is accepting summer swim team registrations online. You can register for the new Minnows “Learn to Swim” program, which involves six classes covering basic life-saving and swim skills. Mike Yastrzemski’s two-run homer to right field in the bottom of the 10th inning lifted the San Francisco Giants over the Reds 8-6 in a game heard yesterday on WRBI. The Reds held a 5-run lead at one point but the Giants chipped away at the deficit before Wilmer Flores tied the game in the ninth with a solo home. Emilio Pagan gave up Yastrzemski’s game-winning homer and was tagged with the loss. The Reds have today off before the start of a six-game homestand tomorrow night with the first of three against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
