STATEHOUSE — The State of Indiana is poised to spend about $250,000 in taxpayer money to pay lawmakers for the special legislative session later this month.
Gov. Eric Holcomb originally called the special session to send a total of $1 Billion back to residents in an effort to combat inflation.
Lawmakers will also use the session to craft legislation dealing with abortion as a result of the Supreme Court overturning Roe V. Wade.
That will likely lead to more days at the Statehouse, and added costs to taxpayers.
A House Republicans spokesman says leaders expect a multi-week session that could last up to four weeks.
Neither House Speaker Todd Huston (R-Fishers) nor Senate President Pro Tem Roderic Bray (R-Martinsville) has commented on the upcoming session.
The special session starts July 25.
