South Ripley softball’s early lead vanishes quickly in loss to Southwestern Hanover

South Ripley varsity softball grabbed an early 2-1 after one inning on Friday against Southwestern Hanover thanks to a Julia Hilton RBI double. That lead would be short lived, as the Rebels would score 14 runs in the second inning to take a 15-2 lead.

Southwestern Hanover would stack on more runs, scoring 11 runs in the 3rd and 4th innings combined, ultimately leading to a 26-2 loss for the Raiders.

The South Ripley pitching staff struggled to keep runners off the basepaths, walking a total of 17 batters in the game. Ava Bastian pitched 3 innings in the loss, giving up 17 earned runs while walking 13 batters.

Ashley Fulton took the win on the mound for Southwestern Hanover, striking out 6 batters in 5 innings.
