South Ripley Elementary Recognized Nationally by Project Lead The Way

(Versailles, IN) – South Ripley Elementary School proudly announces its recognition as a 2023-24 Project Lead The Way (PLTW) Distinguished School. This prestigious honor is bestowed upon a select number of elementary schools across the United States for their steadfast commitment to providing transformative learning experiences for students through PLTW Launch, an elementary STEM curriculum.

PLTW, a national nonprofit organization, serves millions of PreK-12 students and educators across the nation, aiming to foster STEM success in every child, in every grade. South Ripley Elementary’s dedication to empowering its students through PLTW Launch has earned it this distinguished accolade.

Principal Ryan Lauber expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “This recognition reaffirms our belief in the power of PLTW to shape our students’ futures. By providing them with hands-on STEM experiences, we’re not just preparing them for academic success but also equipping them with the skills and confidence they need to thrive in the modern world.”

The PLTW Distinguished School recognition acknowledges schools committed to enhancing student access, engagement, and achievement in PLTW programs. To qualify, South Ripley Elementary demonstrated a student participation rate exceeding 75 percent and offered at least one PLTW Launch module at every grade level during the 2023-24 academic year.

Research indicates that students form their perceptions of math and science as early as elementary school. Through PLTW Launch, South Ripley Elementary students engage in critical thinking, creativity, and teamwork while developing a passion for STEM subjects.

Dr. David Dimmett, President, and CEO of PLTW, commended South Ripley Elementary, stating, “We are honored to recognize South Ripley Elementary for their commitment to providing exceptional educational experiences and equitable access to PLTW programs. This achievement underscores their dedication to empowering students with the knowledge and skills necessary for success in STEM fields and beyond.”

South Ripley Elementary is an integral part of a community comprising PreK-12 schools, colleges, universities, and corporate and philanthropic partners united in their commitment to providing inspiring, engaging, and empowering learning opportunities.
