Snow, sub-zero temperatures lead to hazardous travel conditions, power outages

Southeastern IN — Right on cue, it seems, the rain last night turned over to snow and combined with below-zero temperatures, travel difficulties and some power outages have occurred.

Franklin County was placed under a Red Travel Warning by county commissioners late last night but was moved back to the ORANGE Travel Watch status this morning.

Ripley, Decatur, and Dearborn counties are listed in ORANGE, as well.

In that situation, only essential travel such as to and from work or in an emergency is recommended.

As expected, power outages were reported throughout Southeastern Indiana.

Crews from Duke Energy, Southeastern Indiana, and Decatur County REMCs are working to restore electricity to those affected.
