Slope stabilization projects announced

Seymour, In. — The Indiana Department of Transportation has announced a series of slide correction projects that will impact Southeastern Indiana motorists. The work is part of a one-year renewable on-call contract stabilize areas along roadways.

Four sites have been prioritized and work is expected to begin in mid-September:

  • U.S. Highway 52 at the 162.8 mile marker east of Brookville in Franklin County
  • State Road 250 at mile marker 67.7 near Patriot in Switzerland County
  • S.R. 156 at mile marker 26.6 between Patriot and Rising Sun
  • S.R. 262 between mile markers 4.3 and 4.4 in Ohio County

Geostablization International will use soil nails that are 20 to 70 feet in length to repair unstable embankments and eroding slopes. Wire mesh is attached and covered with shotcrete to finalize the structure facing.  Sometimes, walls are constructed or bearing plates installed.
