(Oldenburg, IN) – The Sisters of St. Francis Oldenburg assembled for their Chapter (governing sessions) on April 14- 20.
This convocation, the first since 2018, set a new direction for the Community of Sisters and Associates and its leadership as they planned for the next five years.
The members prepared for this Chapter by a year-long study of critical issues to the Community and by daily prayer for the Spirit’s guidance. Prayerful discernment was woven into each daily deliberation of the assembly, as well.
Topics discussed included sustainability, future governance of the Community, supporting Franciscan vocations, and reaffirming the Associate relationship.
A four-member Leadership Team was elected by the Chapter body.
New Team members are S. Maureen Irvin, Congregational Minister; S. Robbie Pentecost, First Councilor; S. Susan Marie Pleiss, Councilor; and S. Margaret Rahe, Councilor.
The new General Council will be installed at a Liturgy on June 30.
Their term of office will extend until June 30, 2029.
