Shelbyville man sentenced to five years for role in Capitol riot

Washington, D.C. — A Shelbyville man has been sentenced to five years in federal prison for his role in the January 6 riot at the US Capitol.

57-year-old Mark Mazza pleaded guilty in June to assaulting, resisting, or impeding officers with a dangerous weapon and carrying a pistol without a license.

He was arrested at his home in Shelbyville last November.

Federal investigators say Mazza was carrying a loaded revolver when he entered the Capitol.

He could have received up to 20 years behind bars.
