Osgood, In. — Thursday at 3:30 p.m., the Indiana State Police responded to a three-vehicle personal injury crash on US 421 near Hasmer Hill Road that resulted in four people in two separate vehicles being airlifted to Cincinnati area hospitals with serious injuries.
The initial investigation indicated that an SUV being driven by Natashia J. Peters, 23, Lawrenceburg, was traveling southbound on U.S. 421 near Hasmer Hill Road. Peters’ vehicle crossed the centerline into the path of a northbound 2015 International truck being driven by Brian E. Johnson, 44, Osgood. Johnson was able to take evasive action and drove off the road to avoid Peters’ vehicle. A northbound 2003 Ford van, being driven by Brandon D. Yeary, 24, of Indianapolis, was traveling northbound behind Johnson’s vehicle and was unable to avoid Peters’ vehicle. The vehicles collided head on in the northbound lanes of US 421.
Peters was airlifted to University of Cincinnati Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. A small child in her vehicle (approximately three years of age) was airlifted to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Yeary was airlifted to University of Cincinnati Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. A passenger in Yeary’s vehicle, Terry L. Dykes, 33, of Indianapolis, was transported by ambulance to Margaret Mary Health before being airlifted to University of Cincinnati Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Johnson was not injured.
Toxicology results on the drivers are pending at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
US 421 was closed for nearly four hours for crash investigation and cleanup.
