(Statehouse) – Six local students served as Senate pages during this year’s legislative session.
State Sen. Jean Leising (R-Oldenburg) welcomed the following students to the Statehouse in February:
- Austin Balser, from Batesville, attends Batesville High School.
- Quinn Burdette, from Sunman, attends East Central High School.
- Cale Johannigman, from Greensburg, attends Oldenberg Academy.
- Michael Lamping, from Greensburg, attends Kolby Academy.
- Olivia Leising, from Oldenburg, attends Oldenburg Academy.
- Claire Niese, from Batesville, attends Oldenburg Academy.
Each of the students spent a day at the Statehouse touring the building, observing debates from the Senate floor and interacting with Sen. Leising.
“The Senate Page Program provides students with a wonderful opportunity to further their education outside of the classroom,” Leising said. “I enjoy meeting young students from Senate District 42 and answering their questions about the legislative process.”
Students in grades six through 12 participate in the page program on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays during the legislative session. Groups serve on Wednesdays.
