Batesville, In. — In the seven days following the tragic school shooting, there have been threats of violence reported at 8 southeastern Indiana, Kentucky schools.
On Wednesday, one week removed from the killing of 17 people, a student at the Rushville Consolidated High School made a verbal threat and was arrested. The student is being held in a juvenile detention facility and school officials are working with the parents.
Other threats have been reported at the Ausitn High School, Columbus East High School, Edinburgh High School, Fairview Elementary School in Bloomington, Carmel High School and five students have questioned in threats reported at three Boone County, Kentucky schools.
Also in Bartholomew County, a 16-year-old is being held in the juvenile detention center after teachers at the Edinburgh High School and police discovered a sketch depicting a shooting in a classroom with multiple dead bodies. The youth was arrested outside his home after school Wednesday.
In Scott County, from the Austin High School, school officials and Indiana State police issued the following statement:
The Indiana State Police and Scott County Prosecutor’s Office want school kids and their parents to know that any and all real or perceived threats towards a school and/or school kids will be dealt with the utmost urgency and thoroughness to make an arrest and stop the threat. It is also to be noted that no threat will be considered funny or cute and will not be tolerated.”
