Versailles, In. — The Ripley County Sheriff’s Department is investigating several reports of scammers using the department phone number to deceive residents.
A report from detectives says a caller tells the resident there is a warrant or papers to be served for them. Police say this is an attempt to catch people off-guard and get them to provide personal information to the caller.
