(Decatur County, IN) – Decatur Superior Court Judge Matthew Bailey has granted a defense request for a continuance in the case of former Washington Township Trustee Christian Rust.
He’s charged with one count of theft and three counts of official misconduct.
Rust’s attorneys argued that more depositions still have to be taken, which may lead to additional discovery, and would keep them from being ready for the jury trial originally scheduled for November 17.
Prosecutors did not object.
The trial has been rescheduled for February 3 at 9 a.m.
Also during the hearing, Judge Bailey took under advisement a defense request for a change of venue.
Rust’s attorneys suggested Shelby County; the State did not object to the motion.
