The RCHS Girls and Boys Cross Country teams competed at IHSAA Sectional 22 over the weekend. Both teams qualified for the IHSAA Regional which will be held in Rushville on Saturday October 15 at 10:30 am.
Leading the Lions was Senior Ryan Schindler in 5th for the boys and Senior Olivia Wehr in 17th for the girls. The boys placed 3rd overall in the meet with Hunter Parmerlee (6), Isacc Krodel(14), Charlie Sterrett (23), Wyatt Jacobs (30), and Isacc Schelle (19). The boys ran together today, as they always have all season. Schindler really stepped for his last Sectional XC race. I am looking forward to these last few weeks with him at his best. It’s always nice to see a Senior step up late in the season. He has always been in the shadow so it’s rewarding to see him get that confidence and shine when it really counts.
The Lady Lions are loaded with 4 Seniors this year as they head into the postseason for the last time. Olivia Wehr led the way with Maddy Hankins(28), Sofia Kemple(29), Mia Norvell(32), Jentri Wallace,(33) Cyndi Tush(36), and Ashley Whitham(39) not far behind. These girls came together today and fought to get that last spot in the Regional meet. They surprised me today at their resilience to survive. We had a game plan, they stuck to it and it worked out. Super proud of both these teams today, they give everything they have to succeed.
