Ruby A. Roberts, of Sunman, was born on September 21, 1918 at home in Lawrenceville, the daughter of Charles and Leona Clarkson Gutapfel. She married Theodore (Ted) Roberts on September 21, 1940 in Klemmes Corner, and he preceded her in death on May 13, 2005. Ruby was farmer’s wife and a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Hubbells Corner. She enjoyed playing cards, dancing and spending time with her family – they remember her as a great cook and someone who didn’t miss a day reading her bible. On Wednesday, October 12, 2016, at the age of 98, Ruby passed away peacefully at the Waters of Batesville.
Those surviving who will cherish Ruby’s memory include; daughter, Sandra (Roger) Lang of Sunman; grandchildren, Monica Lang of Indianapolis, Melinda Lang and Brandon Lang, both of Sunman. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Gutapel.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, October 15, 2016 from 10 a.m. till 12 noon at St. John Lutheran Church- Hubbells Corner. Services, officiated by Pastor Tom Frey are at 12 noon. Burial will follow in Evangelical Union Cemetery, next to the church.
