Ronald Nelson Bennett, age 85, of Harrison, Ohio, passed away on Friday, July 5, 2024, in Harrison, Ohio. He was born the son of Selwyn and Leona (King) Bennett on September 29, 1938, in West Harrison, Indiana on Chappelow Ridge.
A Whitewater High School graduate, Ronald honorably served in the United States Navy and went on to marry Emma Gabbard on June 1, 1968, at the First Baptist Church in Harrison, Ohio. He worked as a system programmer at IBM for many years. He was a member of the Smyrna Missionary Baptist Church in New Trenton, Indiana.
Ronald loved watching Cincinnati Reds baseball and University of Cincinnati basketball but was most proud watching his kids and grandkids in their many activities. He truly treasured his family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Emma Bennett, his sons, Nathan (Marcy) Bennett and Michael (Deborah) Bennett, and six grandchildren, Mackenzie, Teagan, Isabella, Keira, Ian, and Kiersten Bennett. He is also survived by his sisters Evelyn Moore and Jean Smith.
Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, Selwyn and Leona Bennett, brother, Alva Bennett, and sisters, Freda Russell and Beulah Bennett.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 1:00 p.m., with Pastor Chuck McMahan officiating, all at Smyrna Missionary Baptist Church located at 4047 US-52, New Trenton, Indiana. A burial will follow at Glen Haven Cemetery in Harrison, Ohio, with military honors provided by the United States Navy and the Harrison Honor Guard.
