Robert “Bob” Allen Bissett, 81, of New Alsace, Indiana, passed away on September 2, 2025.
Born in Sligo, Pennsylvania, on April 6, 1944, he was the son of Norman Bissett and Amy Louise Myers.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Barbara Ann Fuchs; his sons, Richard Bissett (Joellen) and Jeffrey Bissett (Cristen); his daughters, Jill Bissett and Carla Stewart; his brothers, George, Thomas, and Duane; and his sister, Kay Phillips. He was a proud grandfather to Ryan Bissett, Jeanna James, Darren Bissett, Bradey Gamble, Lexi Bissett, Dyllon Stewart, Robert “Robbie” Stewart, Hunter Bissett, Noah Bissett, and Jordan Lindsey and a great-grandfather to Wesley James, Cameron James and Wyatt Gamble.
He is also survived by brother-in-law, Wally McAnlis and sister-in-law, Sandy Bissett Habib.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Jean Ellen Check; his brother James; his sister, Patricia McAnlis; and two infant children.
He was a 1962 graduate of Mohawk Area High School and went on to study at Youngstown State University from 1962 to 1971. He later earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the College of Mount St. Joseph in 1990 and a Master of Science from Ball State University in 1995.
Robert had a long and varied career, beginning in 1955. Over the years he worked at Woodlow Bowling Alley, Woodrow Wilson Cowher Farms, Workingmen’s Overall Supply, Youngstown Sheet & Tube, Republic Rubber, Republic Steel, Universal Rundle, Federated Department Stores, Hill-Rom (where he served as Director of Computer Operations), Computer Horizons, Clopay Building Products (as Information Technology Manager), and as an adjunct professor at both Mount St. Joseph and Purdue University. He retired in 2004.
In retirement, Robert enjoyed a full and busy life. He loved sawmilling, cutting firewood, building barns, gardening, part-time farming, hunting, and berry picking. He especially valued his time as a supporter of St. Paul School.
Robert will be remembered as a hardworking, faithful, and family-oriented man whose legacy will continue through those who loved him.
A rosary will be prayed at 10:00 am on Thursday, September 11, 2025 at St. Paul Catholic Church in New Alsace. Visitation will follow until the Memorial Mass at 12:00 pm. Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery.
