Robbery scene quickly turns real

Crawfordsville, In—  A film crew (Montgomery County Production)ended on the wrong side of police in Crawfordsville Wednesday.

A robbery scene was being filmed at the Back Step Brewing Company on North Green Street around 7 p.m. A passerby saw the activity and called 911.

Because the film crew did not inform police about the filming multiple units responded to the scene.

When police arrived they observed the suspect, later identified as Jim Duff, backing out of the establishment wearing a ski mask and carrying a gun. When police told the suspect to drop he turned toward police. At that point, one shot was fired by police at Duff. Duff dropped the weapon, took off the mask and told police it was a movie set.

Duff was held by police until the story could be verified.
