Brookville, In. — A report from the Franklin County Observer says officials want to implement a new ordinance that would make it illegal for farmers and contractors to leave mud or debris on local roadways.

The issue was brought to the attention of Commissioner Tom Wilson during a logging operation on Ison and Mid Roads. Wilson supports an ordinance that would fine equipment operators from $100 to $500 for not removing mud or debris from the roadway within 24-hours. The sheriff’s department would be given the task of enforcement.

Action on the ordinance has been tabled.
