Ripley County Sheriff’s Office issues phone scam alert

RIPLEY COUNTY, IN — The Ripley County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about a scam.

Someone has reportedly been posing as Ripley County Sheriff’s deputies, telling people that they have missed a court date and need to pay bond.

In addition, the scammers are using an app to disguise their phone number as the Sheriff’s Office number.

If you receive such a call, do not give the caller any information or money.

The Sheriff’s Office says they never ask anyone to pay over the phone or by using an app.
