Ripley County, IN — The Ripley County Health Department has installed what are believed to be the first two NaloxBoxes in the county.
A Naloxbox is a publicly accessible box that contains Naloxone, also known as Narcan, which is a medication approved to reverse an opioid overdose and is often the difference between life and death. A NaloxBox is a hard acrylic box mounted to an exterior wall that provides 24/7 access to Naloxone.
Each unit contains six to eight doses of Naloxone, instructions for use, and treatment referral cards. The NaloxBoxes can be found at the Osgood First Baptist Church on Sycamore Street and at Roberts Auto Wash on Ellis Street in Milan.
