Ripley County clerk releases important municipal election information

Versailles, In. — Ripley County clerk, Ginger Bradford says Wednesday, January 9, 2019, is the first day a person can declare candidacy for the Batesville City Primary Election or the Town of Versailles Primary Election.

Batesville residents will elect a mayor,  clerk-treasurer, city judge and five (5) common council positions. The Town of Versailles will elect a clerk-treasurer and 1 town council member.

Potential candidates must be a registered voter and reside in the district they file in. Candidates may file in the Election Room, 2nd floor of the Courthouse Annex, 102 West First North Street, Versailles. The office is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The deadline for filing for these positions is Friday, February 8, by noon.

The Town of Sunman and the Town of Napoleon will both elect a clerk-treasurer and three (3) town council members by town convention.

Dates for those declaring candidacy for those offices are January 9 until noon on Wednesday, August 1, 2019.
