Ricky Lyn Johnson

Ricky Lyn Johnson, 67, of Guilford, IN, passed away Tuesday, November 19, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born June 25, 1957, in Batesville, IN, son of the late John Johnson and Mildred (Holdcraft) Johnson.
He worked as a Purchasing and Receiving and O.R. Specialist at Dearborn County Hospital, retiring after over 32 years of service.

Ricky was an ordained minister. He was a member of the Grace Church of the Valley, serving as an usher for 10 years, singing in the choir for 10 years and he led the encounter group and home group since 2002. Ricky was also the men’s chaplain for the Dearborn County Law Enforcement Center for 15 years. He did over seas missions in Honduras for 6 years, then went to Africa. He was a faithful servant and lived his life to glorify God.

Ricky loved to travel, going to Florida, Niagara Falls, and numerous trips to Gatlinburg. He enjoyed working at Lowe’s, watering the plants, and he loved to hunt, fish and golf. Rick coached Pee Wee football for 10 years with South Dearborn football league. Rick was loved by everyone. He had a great sense of humor and was known to pull off a few good natured pranks. He had a positive attitude which made people draw nearer to him. He will be missed by family, church family, co-workers and friends.

Ricky is survived by his loving spouse of 46 years, Mary Jane (Heppner) Johnson, sons, Scott Johnson (Amanda Olding) of Cincinnati, OH, Dustin (Tina) Johnson of Moores Hill, IN; brother-in-law, Tony (Teresa) Heppner of Milan, IN; Grandchildren, Kory, Luke and Lilly Johnson; numerous, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by Father, John Johnson; Mother, Mildred Johnson; Brother, Charles Ray Johnson.

Friends will be received Monday, November 25, 2024, 5:00 to 8:00 pm, at the Grace Church of the Valley, 1709 Nowlin Ave, Greendale, IN 47025.
Funeral services will be at the church Tuesday November, 26th at 11:00 am with Dr. Roger Webb and Mark Drury officiating.
Interment will follow in the Greendale Cemetery, Greendale, IN.
