Richard Lee Wesseler, 79, Greensburg

Richard L. Wesseler, age 79, peacefully passed away at Franciscan Hospital in Indianapolis on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Richard was born in Batesville, IN on September 21, 1946; the son of the late Ed and Lucille (Meyer) Wesseler.

Richard spent his childhood growing up in the Greensburg community and was a member of St. Mary’s Church. He attended St. Mary’s School and graduated from Greensburg Community High School in 1964. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and The Eagles. Richard entered the United States Army on February 21, 1966. While serving our country he was in the 101st and 82nd  Airborne Infantry. He received an honorable discharge in 1968. Upon coming home, he worked for Johnson Wholesale for a short time then worked at Delta Faucet for 39 years before retiring in 2008.

Richard married the love of his life, Beverly Pennington, on February 12, 1972. He was a beloved father to his children, Christina (Wesseler) Snyder (John), Scott Wesseler (Jackie Helton), Kevin Wesseler, and Chad Wesseler. He was a cherished grandfather to Tyler (Grace) Brown, Davilyn Wesseler, Dakota Wesseler (Abi Kruthaupt), Cru Wesseler, Finn Wesseler, and Andrew Snyder. He was also blessed with three great grandchildren, Sienna Brown, Ellie Snyder, and Abel Snyder.

In his younger years he enjoyed softball, bowling, and playing cards. Once he married and had children, he enjoyed coaching his sons in little league baseball and youth football. He also loved to watch his daughter perform at high school ballgames as a Pirateer. When it came to his grandchildren he was just as devoted. He attended all school and sporting events.

He will be remembered for his integrity, sense of humor, and his deep love for his family and friends. His memory will be a blessing to all who knew him, and he will be greatly missed.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, November 3, 2025, at Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at 11:00 am, also at the funeral home, with Father John Meyer officiating. Burial and military honors will take place following the funeral at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
