Richard Carl “Dick” Smithson, 79, of Sunman, Indiana, passed away Thursday, January 13, 2022, in Sunman, Indiana.
He was born November 28, 1942, the son of the late Robert Smithson and Alberta (Schafer) Smithson.
He served his country as a member of the United States Army.
Dick worked as a machinist/maintenance for Intermac, retiring after 25 years of service. After retiring from Intermac he started his own company with a friend.
He loved to be outdoors and he liked to fish. He liked to fix, build and invent things. Dick loved to help people and would repair a car or help build a house. He was an animal lover and his dog Chloe was a great friend. He had a dry sense of humor and loved catching you off guard with his wit.
Richard is survived by his loving spouse, Eunice “Sunny” (Corrill) Smithson; children, Richard (Tracy) Smithson Jr. of Brookville, IN, Shannon Smithson of Manchester, IN, Sherry (Bobby) Love of Aurora, IN; siblings, Robert Smithson, Raymond Smithson, Mary Smith, Barbara Carstens, Marcia Goyette, Katherine Gable; grandchildren, Shane Smithson, Cori Smithson, Chad Smithson, Todd Cox, Gene Cox, Sarah Smithson, Cheyenne Shell, Ronnie Shell, Noah Love, Elijah Love, Kayla McCollugh, Kate Love; and many great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Alberta; brother, Ronald Smithson.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
