A flurry of filings heading into May Primary

SOUTHEASTERN IN — Ron Decker has filed paperwork to run for re-election to Ripley County Council. The Republican incumbent from Adams 1 has served as county council president for the past year.

There will be at least two candidates vying for the Republican nomination in May for Decatur County Sheriff. John Organist will square off with former Greensburg Police Chief Bill Meyerrose in the primary.

David Wayne Gray, Jr. and Jeremy Pasel have both filed for the Republican nod for Decatur County Commissioner in District 2.

Ashley Hungate and Richard Mays are running for the GOP nod for the Decatur County Council, District 4 seat. Hungate was appointed to the seat last month to fill the vacancy created by the death of Larry Meyer.

Anna Rayner has filed to run as a Republican for Decatur County Clerk. She’ll be opposed in the May primary by Janet Howell.

As expected, Shelbyville City Attorney Jennifer Meltzer has filed to run for the Republican nomination for State Representative in House District 73.

The redrawn district includes the City of Greensburg and western Decatur County.

That seat is currently held by Michael Davisson, who is filling the unexpired term of his late father, Steve.
