(Greensburg, IN) – President Trump’s tariffs on Mexico may have indirect consequences that put more people to work locally and improve Indiana’s economy.
Reuters news agency is reporting that Honda Civic, the second best-selling car in Honda’s lineup, may be manufactured in Greensburg.
While the tariffs are expected to go into effect Tuesday after a one-month pause, the plan to begin making Civics in Indiana, according to Reuters, puts the start date in May 2028.
Honda’s original plan was to make them in Mexico, beginning in November 2027.
So far, there’s been no comment from Honda on the report.
The plan, as reported, would be to produce about 210,000 Civics per year.
But, it has not been confirmed if they would be produced at the Greensburg facility, which is Honda’s only plant in the state.
