Report: Pay Hikes Coming for Indiana’s Top Elected Officials

(Indianapolis, IN) – Indiana’s top elected officials are getting big pay raises, despite lawmakers facing budget constraints.

Indiana Capitol Chronicle reports the next governor will earn more than $221,000, which will make the job one of the highest paid positions nationwide.

Other offices, including lieutenant governor and attorney general will see raises between 44% and 66%.

The raises were passed without public discussion right before budget challenges cropped up, including a $1 billion Medicaid shortfall and declining state reserves.
