The Cincinnati Reds continued their dominance in their road series against Washington, winning 9-2 last night.
The Nationals would take their one and only lead when Lane Thomas would score on a Graham Ashcraft wild pitch to give them the 1-0 advantage after 1 inning.
However, the Reds would have an answer, scoring 3 runs in the second, thanks to a Joey Votto home run and RBI doubles by Tyler Stephenson and Will Benson to give Cincinnati a 3-1 lead.
TJ Friedl had an RBI single and the fourth, and Elly De La Cruz hit a 455-foot bomb in the fifth to make it 5-1.
In the 7th and 8th, Cincinnati would score 2 runs in both innings, while Washington would grab 1 run in the seventh to get to the 9-2 final score.
De La Cruz finished the game 3-6 with a home run and 1 RBI. Joey Votto also had a good day at the plate, batting 3-5 with a home run and an RBI.
Graham Ashcraft improved his record on the mound to 4-6, allowing just 1 run in 6 innings of work.
With yesterday’s win, Cincinnati improves its record to 48-39. With Milwaukee’s loss to Chicago last night, the Reds now hold a 2-game lead over the Brewers in the NL Central.
