Reds drop final two games of series to complete sweep for the Pirates

The Cincinnati Reds couldn’t manufacture runs this weekend as they dropped both of their games to the Pittsburgh Pirates.

On Saturday, the Reds lost 2-1. The lone in the game for the Reds came in the top of the fifth when Jonathan India scored on a throwing error following a Stuart Fairchild single to make it a 2-1 game.

Cincinnati would have an opportunity to tie or take the lead in the top of the seventh after a Spencer Steer lead off single. However, three straight batters struck out to end the inning. The Reds would not get another baserunner, going three up, three down in the final two innings.

Jose Barrero went 2-2 at the plate in the defeat.

On Sunday, the Reds were defeated for the 6th straight time, falling 2-0.

Hunter Greene had his best outing of the season in a loss on the mound. Greene struck out 6 and allowed just 4 hits and 1 earned run in 6 innings of work.

The Reds return to Great American Ballpark on Monday to begin a 3-game home set with the Texas Rangers. Coverage on 103.9 WRBI will start at 6:10 pm, with first pitch at 6:40 pm.
