Reba Irene Gray

Reba Irene Gray, of Greensburg, Indiana passed away on Monday, September 25, 2023, at Aspen Place Health Campus. The daughter of Chester Paul and Etta Mae ‘Edie’ (Shoopman) Dicken was born on November 14, 1927, in Hartsville, IN. She was 95 years old.

The 1946 St. Paul High School graduate was a long-time member of New Point Christian Church where she regularly attended Sunday School as well as church, for many years. Reba worked in Greensburg, originally for G.C. Murphy Company before going to work for the grocery stores in town, IGA, Lo-Bill, Marsh and Needler’s as they changed names over time.

Reba had many interests and hobbies. She enjoyed scrapbooking, gardening, and tending to her flowers. She did a lot of sewing, making clothes for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren in addition to quilting, embroidery, crocheting, and ceramics. The avid reader also liked to watch old movies and did a lot of canning when the produce was ready. Of course, she decorated year-round for all of the holidays, but Christmas was her favorite. Basically, Reba was always busy doing something.  Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She will be dearly missed by her daughter, Linda Burke (the late Marion); three granddaughters, Tammi Taylor (Chris), Jennifer Lewis, Danielle Bocanegra; six great-grandchildren, Joshua Fry (Cassandra Lamping), Jeremiah Fry (Jodi Muckerheide), Jacob Phillips (Kayla), Landon Phillips (Kaylynn Baluyot), Sierra Phillips (Jordan Smiley), Sarah Swain; two great-great-grandchildren, Rylen Phillips, Millie Smiley; two brothers, Larry Dicken (Diane), Lonnie Dicken (Chris); one sister, Karen Boggs; brother-in-law, George Dixon; sister-in-law, Barbara Dicken; and several step-great-grandchildren and step-great great grandchildren along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Gray; siblings, Alona Anne Dicken, Thelma Eidelman, Jeannie Smith, Pauline Dickson, Bobby Dicken, Howard Dicken, and Randall Dicken; plus, her son-in-law Marion Burke and brothers-in-law, Robert Boggs and Solomon Edelman.
