Ralph Edward Lohrey, of Brookville, was born on February 12, 1945 in Batesville, Indiana a son to Adam and Edna Mae Combs Lohrey. He attended Brookville High School and later married Carol Wells on August 15, 1964 at Elm Grove Baptist Church in Metamora. Ralph was a bricklayer alongside his Dad and brother, Don for 20 plus years and helped build the Lohrey subdivision. He farmed all of his life, starting with his brother and Dad and continuing with his own sons, Troy and Trev. When not working, his favorite entertainment was playing cards with his wife, brother Don, sister-in-law, Janet and best friends, Mike and Mary Ann. Ralph enjoyed farming but loved spending time with his family; traveling with Carol and the kids to Florida in the winter or Indiana beach with Alajah and Trey in the summer; he visited over 40 states! Ralph liked fishing, shooting BB guns with Jackie and enjoyed watching the grandkids sports and dance recitals. He always shared you had to work, and instilled that work ethic in his kids and all the family. On Saturday, November 11, 2023 at the age of 78, his hard working hands were put to rest when he passed away at Bethesda North Hospital in Cincinnati.
Those surviving who will cherish Ralph’s memory include his wife of over 59 years, Carol Lohrey; daughter, Tammy Lohrey (Jeff) O’Mara; two sons, Troy (Rhonda) Lohrey, and Trev (Kelly) Lohrey; 4 grandchildren, Jackie (Tyler) Gettinger, Alajah Lohrey, Trey Lohrey and Dylan (Autumn) Westerfeld; one great-grandson, Ford Gettinger; one great-granddaughter, Stevie Westerfeld, and siblings, Don (Janet) Lohrey, and Debbie Lohrey.
