Gary Eugene Taylor, age 58 of Versailles, road off into the sunset Sunday November 12, surrounded by his family. He fought the good fight, he finished the race, and everyone around him kept the faith. Gary was born on March 7, 1965 in Hindman County, Kentucky to his proud parents Bristol Taylor and Ruthine Collins.
His family moved to Indiana and Gary graduated from Jac-Cen-Del High School. He went to work as a heavy machine operator and spent the last 30 years as Drill Foreman. He had worked all over the Midwest.
Gary enjoyed his field of work, however his favorite job title was that of husband. He spent the last 21 years with the love of his life Lorna. It was like clockwork when they were together, Lorna got a huge bear hug and “I Love You,” everyday. He was a proud dad, uncle, and grandpa.
Friends were special and meant the world to him. Gary had the ability to walk in a room and make people smile, he cherished his time with friends and family. Gary and Lorna were fortunate enough to ride their Harley in numerous states, with the last major trip being in South Dakota and Wyoming to attend his niece Russina Strassell’s wedding a few months ago.
He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodges, the Fraternal Order of Eagles in both Lawrenceburg and Aurora, and a member Osgood American Legion.
He will be dearly missed by wife Lorna, daughters Megan (Scott) Berry and Marci Grigsby, son Shannon Rodgers, step mother Fern Taylor, brothers Tony “TJ” (Andrea) Taylor, Mick (Jackie) Taylor and Eric Moore, sisters Deronda (Shane) Roper and Heather (Sean) Brashear, niece Russina (Alex) Strassell, grandchildren; Maison, Matthew, Whitney, Jayla, Cecilia, and Aliyah, along with several niece and nephews.. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Rochelle Moore.
Visitation will be held on Friday November 17, 2023 from 3-7 pm., at Neal’s Funeral Home in Osgood. Funeral services will be held on Saturday November 18 at 12 pm., with doors opening at 11 am., also at Neal’s Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Cliff Hill Cemetery in Versailles with Military Honors by Osgood American Legion. Memorials may be given to the family in care of the funeral home.
