Ralph Ivo Dierckman

Ralph I. Dierckman, age 99 of Batesville, Indiana, died Thursday, May 1, 2025, at St. Andrew’s Health Campus in Batesville.  Born January 17, 1926, in Ripley County Indiana, he is the son of Edward and Ruth (Nee: Kirschner) Dierckman.

He was a farmer and member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Knights of St. John Commandery #220 and an Army veteran during the Korean War.  Ralph liked to watch Cincinnati Reds baseball on television or just sitting by the radio to listen to them.  He was fond of many foods and desserts.  Ralph and his brother Joe would faithfully attend many of the area’s church picnics and enjoyed the dinners that were served there.  They could often be found attending to their garden and when the vegetables would ripen, they would pick and can them to enjoy later.  Ralph’s true passion was farming.  He could be seen working in the fields in the morning and wouldn’t come in until after it was dark.

He is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.  In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by his sisters Dolores Reer, Roberta Brunsman, and Cleora “Sis” Kuntz and brothers Milton, Elmer, and Joseph Dierckman.

Visitation is Saturday, May 10th, from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m., at Holy Family Catholic Church in Oldenburg, Indiana.  A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30 a.m., at the church with Fr. E.J. Stein OFM officiating.  The burial will be at Holy Family Cemetery, with military graveside rites being conducted by the Ripley County Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #3183 and by the Prell-Bland American Legion Post #271 of Batesville.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Rosemary and Melanie Dierckman Oldenburg Academy Scholarship, Morris Fire Department, or the Holy Family Church Capital improvement Fund.  For online condolences go to www.weigelfh.com.
