(Versailles, IN) – South Ripley battled Class 3A No. 10 Madison on Friday night at home, showing resilience before coming up short 59–42 against the highly ranked Cubs.
The Lady Raiders trailed 23–16 at halftime but came out strong in the third quarter, briefly taking a 33–32 lead as they matched Madison’s intensity on both ends of the floor.
Momentum shifted early in the fourth quarter when junior captain Claire Samples was forced to leave the game with an injury. Madison capitalized from that point, stretching the margin and pulling away in the closing minutes.
Rine led South Ripley with 13 points, while Werner added 9 and Samples scored 8 before exiting, as the Lady Raiders continued to compete against one of the state’s top teams.
South Ripley now turns its focus to postseason play, opening the Ripley County Tournament on Tuesday against Milan.
