Pursuit due to possible car theft in Decatur County

Greensburg, IN—Sunday afternoon, the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a stolen vehicle in the western part of Decatur County. A deputy observed the vehicle near State Road 3 and County Road 500 South and attempted to stop the driver, Clay Mason, 28, of Indianapolis.

Mason struck the deputy’s vehicle and fled the scene. DCSO deputies and the Greensburg Police Department pursued Mason into Bartholomew County and ultimately stopped and arrested him in Columbus with the assistance of the Columbus Police Department and Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office.

Mason potentially faces multiple felony counts in Decatur County and Bartholomew County including an allegation of auto theft.
