Statewide—During Governor Eric Holcomb’s press conference on Friday, Secretary of State Connie Lawson stated that that the Primary election results will more than likely not be decided by the end of election night.
While she noted that counties such as Ohio County, who only have roughly 71 absentee ballots in as of Friday, will be able to have a decision made that evening, the more absentee ballots sent in, the longer it will take central count teams to tally. Secretary Lawson indicated that it could take multiple days.
Secretary Lawson has suggested that if you still would like to vote in person, consider voting between May 26-June 1 during early voting hours to spread out the number of people at one time. She also encourages voters to call ahead to your local election office to find out if early voting locations have changed due to COVID-19 restrictions
