Pirates hand Reds 4th straight loss

The Cincinnati Reds struggles continued Friday night as they were handed a 4-2 loss at the hands of the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Reds have now lost 4 straight and 5 of their last 6.

In the 2nd inning, Mark Mathias knocked in Connor Joe and Jack Suwinski to give the Pirates an early 2-0.

However, the Reds came back to tie the game in the top of the fifth, thanks to an RBI single by Nick Senzel and a Jose Barrero sacrifice fly that scored Jason Vosler.

The Pirates would take a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the sixth after a throwing error by Barrero allowed Joe to score for the Pirates. In the seventh, the Pirates would add another run to make it 4-2 when Carlos Santana knocked in Andrew McCutcheon on an RBI double.

In a no-decision effort for the Reds, Graham Ashcraft struck out 4, giving up 2 earned runs in 5 innings. Derek Law took the loss in relief.

Mitch Keller got the win on the mound for the Pittsburgh, striking out 5 and giving up 2 earned runs in 6 innings.

Cincinnati will try to snap their 4-game losing streak this evening in the 3rd game of their 4-game road set with the Pirates.
