Pirates Track Results At South Dearborn

The Greensburg Boys Track and Field team split with Jennings County and South Dearborn Tuesday evening in Aurora.

Jennings County 98.50, Greensburg 54.50, South Dearborn 14.

The Pirates notched four individual champions on the evening and placed second in all three relays. This was another good and competitive outing for the team. Freshman Matthew Myer had a PR winning 9’6″ clearance in the pole vault, and seniors Jadrian Woods (400m), Zach Pokrzywinski (High Jump) and Dylan Cain (Shot Put) brought home blue ribbons on the evening. Runner up finishes went to Pokrzywinski (100m), Devin Imel (400m) and Hunter Butz (800m). Also the 4×800 relay (Reid McClintic, Kevin Johnson, Louis Moore, Jared Hasselbring), 4×100 relay (Shawn Partlow, Vincent Pavy, Luke Lozier, Pokrzywinski) and 4×400 relay (Woods, Moore, Pavy, Imel) earned runner-up spots. Finishing out the scoring spots were: Lozier-4th High Jump, Tanner Yonts-3rd Discus, Landon Diekhoff-4th Discus, Pavy-4th 110Hurdles, 300Hurdles; Isaiah Myer-3rd 100m, 200m; Hasselbring-4th 1600m, 3200m; Eric Lowe-3rd Pole Vault, and Cody Bauer-3rd Shot Put.

The Pirates will be in action Friday when they travel to Decatur Central for the Joe Schott Invite.

The Greensburg Girls Track & Field Team (88 points) won a tri meet with Jennings County (69) and South Dearborn (10) Thursday night in Aurora.

There were many highlights of the evening with 10 championship performances and 6 career bests. The Lady Pirates’ successful night started early with the hurdle crew making a sweep in the 100 hurdle event and continued through the night across the board as the girls scored in all 16 events of the night.

1st Place.  Erin Browning – Shot Put; Arie Hampton – High Jump; Ellie Kramer – Pole Vault; Ashlynn Meyer – 100 hurdles; Mary West – 200* (PR); Cami Jones – 1600 & 800; Cathy Newhart – 3200; 4 x 800 Relay (Newhart, Morgan Winkler, Julia Ankney, Jones);4 x 400 Relay (Jones, Rylie Smith, Meyer, Ankney).

2nd Place. Lily Grimes – Shot Put * (PR); Mary West – 100; Rylie Smith – 100 hurdles; Ashlynn Meyer – 300 hurdles; Kayla Davis – 400; Cathy Newhart – 1600; 4 x 100 Relay (Montana Whitaker, West, Jaylin Hampton, Meyer).

3rd Place. Erin Browning – Shot Put; Lily Grimes – Discus* (PR); Montana Whitaker – 400; Julia Ankney – 800.

4th Place. Koregan Kidd – Pole Vault & 100; Rylie Smith – Long Jump & 300 hurdles; Julia Ankney – 1600* (PR).

Other PR performances included: Charlotte Anderson (1600) & Allison Ralston (shot put).

The Lady Pirates will compete again Friday night in the Joe Schott Memorial Twilight Invite at Decatur Central.
